I’ve been teaching since 2002, have shire approval and insurance, and know where to find the safest spots around Margaret River.

Discovery Kiteboarder Program

FIRST WAVES
For beginners looking to get started. Includes an introduction to:
Weather and site selection, safety systems, 4-line training kite, power dragging in a harness, launch and land, neutral and power zones.

Intermediate Kiteboarder Program

BUILDING UP
For riders who’ve had a taste. Build upon your skills:
Safety review, downwind body dragging, upwind body dragging to retrieve board, water relaunching, water start practice, and if you're ready- ride.

Independent Kiteboarder Program

RIDE FREE
For riders who are confident flying a kite and are progressing on the board.
Independently assess weather and water conditions, set up and self-launch your kite, practice riding on the board, edge the board and ride upwind, self-land.

Operating In Margaret River Since 2002

From the moment I first rode a windsurfer in 1984 aged 11, I was hooked on water sports. 

That first ride is what started my journey to opening Mainbreak Watersports eighteen years later.  Since 2002, I’ve been operating in Augusta, Margaret River, using my decades of love and experience of riding the wind and waves to supply water sports equipment and teach people how to use it.

Our two teenage daughters did a wingfoil lesson with Simon from Mainbreak Watersports in January 2023 whilst we were on holiday in WA. Since returning home to Newcastle, NSW, the girls have continued with the sport and are both proficient foilers and now entering into wingfoiling regattas. Lots of fun.
Simon had an awesome manner with them. Confident, fun and the ability for him to be able to coach remotely using radio headsets was a game changer. He taught setup, wing control, on water lesson and pack up. Highly recommend. We intend on another lesson with him next time in WA

Had an awesome kitesurf day at Australind with Simon: Very patient and experienced teacher with modern equipment e.g. like a two-way radio set that enabled him to give me instructions at the right moment when it was needed and enabled me to talk back to him in case of questions even if I was far away.
